Participants Invited

Although in-person research in the UT Voice Lab has been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we invite speakers with vocal tremor, healthy speakers, healthy singers, and healthy listeners to volunteer to participate in research so we can contact you as soon as in-person data collection resumes. In addition, we are currently developing research studies that involve remote participation. Please click on the tabs below to learn about our studies and follow the UT Voice Lab Facebook page for updates.

  • Do you have essential tremor?
  • Do you have difficulty producing voice or speech?
  • Are you between the ages of 18-90 years?

If so, you might qualify to participate in a research study.

The goals of the study are to understand how speakers control their voice and to develop therapy that improves vocal control.

Participants will complete hearing tests, cognitive tests, and voice recordings while they perform different speaking tasks. Nasolaryngoscopy may also be performed.

Participation is limited to four sessions, each lasting no longer than 4 hours.  Parking and compensation will be provided.

This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Texas at Austin.
