M.A. Course Sequences

Revised recommended course sequence (Fall 2017)

Options: Thesis/NoThesis

Total Academic coursework: 32  credits 

Clinical work: 10-20 credits.  (Additional credit hours may be required by the program to satisfy ASHA guidelines).

Optional: Bilingual specialization (32 credits) 

M.A. track - Thesis option:
  • 20 credits of core coursework (Topics include speech and language disorders across the lifespan, measurement and communication disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders and dysphagia)
  • 3 credits of advanced electives (may be taken in CSD or outside the department, upper division or higher)
  • 3 credits of research seminar
  • 6 credits of Thesis
  • Clinical work: 10-20 credits (on campus intervention & diagnostic clinics, two externships)
M.A. track - No-Thesis option:
  • 20 credits of core coursework (Topics include speech and language disorders across the lifespan, measurement and communication disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders and dysphagia)
  • 9 credits of advanced electives: 3 credits must be taken outside the department, 6 credits in CSD (academic or clinical course).
  • 3 credits of research seminar
  • Clinical work: 10-20 credits (on campus intervention & diagnostic clinics, two externships)
