How to Contact Us

Internal Transfer, Change of Major, Adding a Second Major

The internal transfer process is for students who are currently enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin.

Application Periods

There are two designated application periods during each academic year: one in the spring and one in the fall.

The application will be open during the month of September for the Spring semester and during the month of February for the Fall semester. Details can be found here.

Academic Advising for Non-CSD Majors

Non-communication students MUST attend a College of Communication Internal Transfer Information Session before they may make an appointment with an advisor in the College. Once they have attended a session, students may contact the Office of Student Affairs (512 471-1553) to make an appointment with the prospective student advisor.

Applying to the College of Communication as a Degree Holder Non-Degree Seeking (NDS) student.

Former Students - Non CSD Bachelor's Degree

Students who have a bachelor's degree in another field may take prerequisite courses to qualify for consideration for the Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Transfer Student – Non-CSD Bachelor’s Degree

If you have a bachelor's degree in another field, you may take prerequisite courses at UT Austin, but to do so you must be admitted to the College of Communication as a Degree Holder/Non-Degree Seeking (NDS) student, a special category of undergraduate transfer admission. NDS admission is highly selective and is based primarily on your academic achievement in your previous undergraduate institution(s).

Newly admitted Communication students must begin their studies in the fall semester.

Former UT Students

Applying for Former UT Students - Non CSD Bachelor's Degree

If you're ready to return to UT Austin after an interruption of at least one fall or spring semester, you should apply for readmission as a former student.

Readmission Application

Submit your completed Texas Common Application online or use the paper application.

Printable Application for Undergraduate Readmission (PDF) may be submitted in place of the Texas Common Application.

First apply for readmission. Once you're readmitted, follow the procedures for major changes of the school or college you're interested in.
