Non-Professional Track

A major in Communication Sciences and Disorders is appropriate for students who want broad-based knowledge about human communication processes. This major may be beneficial both to students who plan to continue their education at the graduate level in a related field and to those for whom the B.S. is the terminal degree. It provides a foundation in normal and disordered aspects of speech, language, and hearing for students whose career interests include speech science, hearing science, services for those with disabilities, vocational rehabilitation, child development, and special education. Students pursuing the non-certification track choose one of three areas of specialization but do not necessarily take the courses required for professional certification.
