Doug Sladen, Ph.D. joined the CSD faculty in Audiology in Fall 2008. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Washington University, and his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. Prior to doctoral studies, Doug spent 10 years doing clinical work; first as a Pediatric Audiologist at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center, and then as a Clinical Specialist for Advanced Bionics. After completing his Ph.D., Doug worked for 2 years as a Research Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt before joining the faculty at UT Austin. Doug teaches Pediatric Audiology, Aural (Re)Habiliation and Cochlear Implants. His research interests include auditory development, childhood hearing loss, and cochlear implants. He has published articles in the Journal of Speech, Language and Hearing Research, the American Journal of Audiology, TRENDS in Amplification, Ear and Hearing, Cochlear Implants International, and Topics in Language Disorders. He has also published book chapters and presented his work nationally and internationally.
