Li Sheng, Ph.D., joined our faculty in Speech-Language Pathology in January 2007. Her doctoral work was completed at Northwestern University. Dr. Sheng’s research interests are in the areas of child language development and disorders, lexical-semantic processing and organization, and bilingualism. Her current projects examine semantic category knowledge in preschoolers, lexical-semantic organization in English-speaking children with specific language impairment, and semantic organization in bilingual Mandarin-English and Spanish-English speakers.
Dr. Sheng has published papers in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics, Journal of Child Language, and Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools. She has also presented her research at national and international conferences.
The courses she currently teaches include Acquisition of Communication Abilities in Children, and Cognitive and Linguistic Foundations of Language Development and Disorders.
