Admissions Process

Applicants are responsible for making sure ALL materials requested by both the Office of Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) and the CSD Graduate Office are provided by the required department deadline dates. Matierals missing from your appication may prevent your application from going to review with our CSD Admissions Committees.

The Admissions Committees evaluates each and every application individually, carefully weighing:

GRE scores (MUST have been taken within the last five years and be reported to the department by your area's deadline date – we will use the highest score earned),
TOEFL scores (required for International students only)
upper-division transcripts for (junior-senior level)
statement of purpose essay
three letters of reference

Successful applicants will be those who, in the judgment of the faculty admissions committees, show the greatest promise for success as graduate students in our program and as professionals after graduation. We do not employ arbitrary threshold or minimum values for such factors as GRE scores or GPA to determine which applications are evaluated for admission, nor do we have geographic preferences or quotas; all applications are considered carefully.

Your Application and the Application Decision

Interviews are ONLY required for Ph.D. applicants. Master's and Au.D. applicants do not need to visit for individual interviews, but a CSD Info Day is available if you wish to visit our program.

The decisions are typically announced mid March via US Mail for admitted students only. Those students denied admission will receive a formal letter in the US Mail from the office of Graduate and International Admissions (GIAC).

We would like to know your decision after being contacted about your acceptance as soon as possible, but no later than April 15th.
